Summary
Alaska Medicaid has implemented new telehealth regulations expanding COVID-era flexibilities, updated transportation forms with new requirements, and enhanced provider services including electronic submission alternatives to faxing. Several billing process improvements are being rolled out including enhanced field representative support.
Action Required
For Alaska Medicaid providers: 1) Review new telehealth regulations effective 9/1/23 but do not bill newly covered telehealth services until system updates are complete and notification is received. 2) By November 5, 2023: Stop using old SUD Treatment Services Transportation forms - use updated version only. Begin using new PRTF Attestation for Travel form for Therapeutic Home Passes and Onsite Family Therapy Visits. 3) Update claim submission processes to include proper document attachment indicators and use new Attachment Fax Cover Sheet for electronic claims. 4) Monitor for upcoming electronic submission alternatives to faxing - details coming in December town hall.
