An excluded hire creates a compliance problem.

Paying someone on an exclusion list can put claims at risk. The hard part is not one check, it is checking everyone, every month, and proving it.

Lists change every month

OIG publishes updates on its own schedule, and SAM.gov and state Medicaid lists change independently.

Name matches need judgment

A common name returns possible matches that someone has to compare against the source record and decide on.

Auditors ask for proof

You need a record of who was screened, against which sources, when, and what your team decided.

HOW IT WORKS

Upload once. Review what matters. Keep the evidence.

  1. 01Upload your listOnly a name is required. NPI and date of birth are optional and help rule out false matches. No SSN needed.
  2. 02Decide each possible matchNothing is confirmed automatically. Your team sees your record beside the source record and records the decision.
  3. 03Keep the evidence currentExports list every source and when it was retrieved. On Individual, your list is re-screened every month.

Good to know

  • Possible matches go to human review. Verify each finding before taking action.
  • SAM and state checks use normalized names and valid NPIs. OIG matching also considers name variants.
  • Historical Florida sanctions, fines, and reversals provide context and are not presented as current exclusions for every record.
  • Exports record retrieval times so the scope of each screening stays visible.

OIG Screening questions

What is OIG exclusion screening?

Checking everyone you employ or pay against selected exclusion sources, including the OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Screening before hire and following source updates gives your team a reviewable record of what was checked.

Who should I screen?

Everyone you employ or pay: employees, contractors and vendors. Upload them in one file with names, and NPIs and dates of birth where you have them, so matches can be confirmed or cleared quickly.

Is the first screening really free?

Yes. Your first full screening of everyone you employ or pay is free, with the review queue and timestamped source records included. A subscription covers ongoing rechecks, the review queue after that first run, and evidence exports.

How do source rechecks work?

OIG checks follow releases. Paid subscribers can recheck selected additional sources daily, and you can check any selected source on demand. Each source shows its last successful retrieval separately.

How does matching work?

Names and valid NPIs help find possible matches in your selected sources. OIG matching also considers name variants; SAM and state matching uses normalized names and valid NPIs, not fuzzy name matching. A possible match is not a confirmed exclusion. Your team reviews the identity and the source action, including any reversal or reinstatement.

What goes into the evidence file?

The export includes each selected source and its last successful retrieval time, everyone screened, possible matches, and recorded reviewer decisions. Source evidence is tied to the screening run; reviewer decisions reflect the latest review history. If a source does not provide a publication date, it is shown as unknown.

Which list do you check?

Choose OIG LEIE, SAM.gov, and Medicaid lists from 17 states: Texas, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, New York, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Washington. Historical sanctions, fines, and reversals provide context, not proof of a current exclusion. Each selected source shows its retrieval date and availability.

What does the subscription cost?

Individual is $19 a month per user, or $190 a year (2 months free), with unlimited people and vendors. Organization plans for teams are coming soon. Policy Monitoring is free, and so is your first full OIG screening. See pricing.
