Summary
Alaska Medicaid has streamlined urgent travel requests by creating a dedicated call center for requests needed within 3 days, requiring only a one-page attestation form instead of lengthy documentation. Non-urgent requests must still use fax or Direct Secure Messaging and cannot be submitted through the urgent call center.
Action Required
Immediately: Staff must use the dedicated urgent travel call center (907.644.6800, option 1,5) only for travel needed within 3 calendar days. Submit the one-page Urgent Travel Request Attestation via email to AKUrgentTravel@gainwelltechnologies.com before calling. For non-urgent requests, continue using fax (907) 644-5982 or Direct Secure Messaging. Do not submit urgent requests by fax or DSM as they will be processed as standard NEMT requests.
