Summary
Alaska Medicaid has updated their urgent travel request process to streamline approval for members needing transportation within 3 calendar days. The new process requires a one-page Urgent Travel Request Attestation from enrolled providers and eliminates the need for clinical review, reducing turnaround times.
Action Required
Immediately: For Alaska Medicaid patients needing urgent transportation (within 3 days), providers must complete the new Urgent Travel Request Attestation form and email it to AKUrgentTravel@gainwelltechnologies.com before calling the urgent travel line at 907-644-6800 option 1,7. Update air ambulance billing procedures for wing-to-wing transfers to bill on single claim with one lift-off fee using appropriate A-codes. Do not submit urgent requests by fax or DSM as these will be processed as standard requests with longer delays.
