REQUIREMENTS: By December 31, 2026: Billing team must identify all patients with active Cigna Healthcare medical IFPs (identifiable via 'Cigna Connect' plan designation on ID cards) and ensure coverage ends on this date in billing system. Coordinate with front desk staff to alert patients to select new coverage during open enrollment. Immediate (upon receipt of this notice): Update billing system to flag Cigna medical IFP claims with a coverage end date of December 31, 2026. Ensure claims for services incurred after this date from these former patients are routed to patient responsibility or new coverage verification. Ongoing through December 31, 2026: Continue processing all claims with proper service dates within the active coverage period. After January 1, 2027, reject or deny any claims for Cigna medical IFP patients without verification of alternative coverage.
