This affects Indiana Medicaid (IHCP) Orthopedics, Pulmonology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, General Practice providers in IN on Medicaid plans.

Q: What do I need to do?

Already effective Jan. 1, 2023: Billing team, for dates of service on or after Jan. 1, 2023, bill the codes in Table 1 at the rates shown for each listed modifier, including NU for new purchase and RR for rental where the table lists them. Watch for adjusted claims on Remittance Advices beginning April 11, 2023, which will carry ICNs or Claim IDs that begin with 52 (mass replacements non-check related). Reimbursement, prior authorization and billing for these items apply to services delivered under the fee-for-service delivery system. Managed care reimbursement, prior authorization and billing questions go to the managed care entity the member is enrolled with. The rates will also appear in the next regular update to the Professional Fee Schedule, and the Durable and Home Medical Equipment and Supplies Codes tables will be updated. Summary

Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) changes the rates for select durable medical equipment (DME) and medical supply HCPCS procedure codes, effective for dates of service on or after Jan. 1, 2023. The updated codes and rates are listed in Table 1, with separate fees for new purchase (NU) and rental (RR) and for oxygen modifiers QB and QF where shown. Claims processed in the indicated time frame for these codes will be mass adjusted, as appropriate, and adjusted claims will appear on Remittance Advices beginning April 11, 2023 with internal control numbers (ICNs) or Claim IDs that begin with 52.
