Summary
Indiana Medicaid (IHCP) now allows billing of 8 global maternity codes when IHCP is the secondary/tertiary payer for coordinating benefits. Previously these codes were not covered by IHCP at all, but now they can be billed with primary payer EOB attached when other insurance has paid first.
Action Required
By August 9, 2023 (90 days for managed care) or November 7, 2023 (180 days for FFS): Billing team can now submit or resubmit claims for global maternity codes 59400, 59410, 59510, 59515, 59610, 59614, 59618, 59622 when IHCP is secondary/tertiary payer. Must attach primary payer EOB and copy of bulletin BT202343 for claims beyond original filing limit. Update billing workflows to identify IHCP members with other maternity coverage.
