Summary
Effective July 1, 2026, Blue Cross Blue Shield refined their claims editing and review process for office, inpatient, and outpatient evaluation and management (E/M) services for commercial members. A mandatory webinar is being offered to educate providers on these changes to ensure accurate billing and proper reimbursement.
Action Required
By September 16, 2026: Billing team and clinical providers must register for and attend one of three webinar sessions (Sept. 16, 17, or 24, 2026) to understand the refined E/M claims editing and review process. After attending, update internal billing workflows, encounter templates, and coding guidelines to align with the new requirements outlined in policy CPCP024 Evaluation and Management Coding – Professional Provider Services. Failure to implement these changes may result in claim denials or delays due to non-compliance with the new editing rules.
