Summary
Maryland Medicaid has extended the HCBS Cost Survey submission deadline from September 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026. All Medicaid-enrolled HCBS providers who billed for services between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, must submit complete financial and operational data by the new deadline or face payment suspension starting January 1, 2027.

By December 31, 2026: All billing and provider management staff must ensure completion and submission of the HCBS Cost Survey for any HCBS services billed during July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. Assign responsibility to collect financial data (costs, utilization, workforce data, direct care worker compensation) and submit via the Myers and Stauffer HCBS Cost Survey tool. Failure to submit by the deadline will result in automatic Medicaid payment suspension beginning January 1, 2027, that remains in effect until a completed survey is received. Providers should attend live Q&A sessions (August 5, August 20, September 2, September 15, 2026) and access recorded training modules on the Myers and Stauffer website.
