Summary
Effective September 1, 2026, radiation oncology services (including proton beam therapy) and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals will now be managed through the Oncology Value Management program administered by OncoHealth, requiring prior authorization through a new process. Providers must register for training webinars in August or September 2026 to understand the new requirements and workflow.
Action Required
Before September 1, 2026: (1) Billing team and clinical staff must register for at least one OncoHealth training webinar at oncohealth.us/training-bcbsmi (sessions available Aug 13, Aug 18, Aug 27, Sept 3, and Sept 9). (2) Update prior authorization workflow and billing software to route all radiation oncology and therapeutic radiopharmaceutical claims through OncoHealth instead of current BCBS authorization process. (3) Communicate new prior auth requirements to all providers and clinical staff who order these services. (4) Implement new authorization procedures before the Sept 1 effective date. Failure to obtain prior authorization through OncoHealth will result in claim denials for affected services.
