Summary
Nevada Medicaid now allows Rural Health Clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers to bill separately for Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) devices and services under Fee-for-Service instead of bundled PPS rates. These providers can now bill specific CPT and HCPCS codes for IUD and contraceptive implant insertion, removal, and the devices themselves.
Action Required
Immediately: Nevada RHCs and FQHCs (Provider Type 17, Specialties 180 and 181) should update billing systems to bill LARC procedure codes 58300, 58301, 11981, 11982, 11983 and device codes J7296-J7301, J7307 separately from PPS encounter rates. Ensure NDC codes are included with J-codes and obtain prior authorization for service limits on codes 11981 and 11983. Previously denied claims will be automatically reprocessed.
