Summary
Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services added new HCPCS/CPT codes to the Ambulatory Procedures Listing (APL) for hospital outpatient and ambulatory surgical treatment centers, retroactive to July 1, 2004. Providers must use these additional codes when billing for services performed on or after July 1, 2004.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must access the Illinois HFS website to download the updated APL code list and implement the additional HCPCS/CPT codes for all hospital outpatient and ASTC claims with dates of service on or after July 1, 2004. Update billing software and share code additions with software vendors and IT departments. Review and resubmit any denied claims from July 2004 onward that may now be covered under the expanded code set.
