Summary
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services updated the Ambulatory Procedures Listing (APL) with 23 new ICD-9-CM procedure codes and removed non-covered procedure indicators for Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Centers. ASTCs can now perform any surgical procedure approved by their facility's Consulting Committee and authorized by the Department of Public Health.

Update billing systems with the 23 new ICD-9-CM procedure codes effective October 1, 2002. Replace handbook appendices H-4a through H-5 for hospitals and Appendix 4 for ASTCs with revised October 2002 versions.
