Summary
Michigan Medicaid updated their Provider Manual with new billing codes, hospice service clarifications, and coverage changes. Several codes now require prior authorization starting July 1, 2018, while some codes have been discontinued.
Action Required
By July 1, 2018: Billing team must update system to require prior authorization for codes Q9991 and Q9992. Stop billing discontinued codes Q5102, R0070, R0075, 0004U, and 0015U. Update billing software to include new covered codes Q5103 and Q5104. For hospice patients, do not bill services related to terminal illness as these are covered by hospice programs only.
