Summary
Michigan Medicaid now allows direct enrollment and reimbursement of private practice occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and audiologists for all Medicaid beneficiaries (not just dual-eligible). New therapy modifier requirements and billing code changes take effect October 1, 2018.
Action Required
By October 1, 2018: Billing team must update all therapy service claims to include required modifiers - GP for physical therapy, GO for occupational therapy, GN for speech-language therapy, plus modifier 96 for habilitative therapy or 97 for rehabilitative therapy. Stop using CPT 97760 for serial casting and use CPT 97140 instead. Update MSA-115 prior authorization forms to new version. Serial casting claims must include TS modifier for maintenance visits.
