Michigan Medicaid is temporarily removing prior authorization requirements for walking boots (L4360/L4361) and wheelchair batteries during COVID-19 emergency, effective April 1, 2020. The policy also adds temporary coverage for spirometers for cystic fibrosis patients in home settings.

Immediately: Billing team must stop obtaining prior authorization for walking boots (L4360/L4361) and wheelchair batteries (E2358-E2367) for Michigan Medicaid patients. Append CR modifier to all wheelchair battery claims or they will be denied. For E2358 and spirometer codes (A9284/E0487), submit invoices through Document Management Portal and include 'invoice in DMP' in claim notes. Maintain physician orders in patient files for audit purposes.
