Summary

New Jersey Medicaid is adding new HCPCS procedure codes for laboratory and clinical services effective immediately, including codes for renal/peripheral vein renin stimulation panels, urinalysis, sedimentation rate, oocyte culture, fecal leukocyte examination, semen analysis, glucose tolerance tests, and automated multichannel chemistry tests. Billing teams must update their HCPCS code files and fee schedules with the new codes and their maximum allowable fees.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Billing team must update HCPCS code files to add all new procedure codes (80416, 80417, 81001, 85652, 89250, G0026, G0027, G0055, G0056, G0057, G0058, G0059, G0060) with their corresponding maximum fee allowances in the billing system. For independent clinical laboratories, physicians, podiatrists, certified nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, and independent clinics: insert the attached additions and amendments into the appropriate HCPCS subchapter. For HMOs: retain the attachment and newsletter behind the blue tab marked '5'. Update fee schedules to reflect new maximum allowable amounts for each code. Failure to implement these code additions may result in claim denials or payment delays for laboratory services billed with these codes.
