Summary
New Jersey Medicaid has updated HCPCS codes with additions of 17 new practitioner-administered drugs (effective January 1, 2004) and deletions of 11 outdated codes (effective July 1, 2004). Multiple provider types including physicians, hospitals, and clinics must update their billing systems with new codes and replacement mappings.
Action Required
By July 1, 2004: Billing team must update billing software to replace deleted codes with new replacement codes as specified in the crosswalk (e.g., use J1335 instead of C9116, J2505 instead of C9119). Add new J-codes for practitioner-administered drugs with maximum fee allowances. Update encounter forms and remove codes with no replacement (J1910, J7625, Q9920). Claims submitted with deleted codes after July 1, 2004 will be denied.
