Summary
New Jersey's PAAD (Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled) program has added Akorn, Inc. (Labeler Code 11098) to its approved manufacturers' list, effective December 11, 2003. Providers dispensing PAAD-covered legend drugs, diabetic testing supplies, and insulin from this manufacturer can now bill the program.
Action Required
By January 31, 2004: Pharmacy and billing staff should update internal manufacturer lists and billing system reference materials to recognize Akorn, Inc. (Labeler Code 11098) as an approved PAAD program manufacturer. Verify that point-of-sale or billing software reflects this addition to prevent claim denials for PAAD-covered prescriptions from this manufacturer. This primarily affects pharmacies dispensing to New Jersey PAAD beneficiaries.
