Summary
BCBSRI will begin covering and separately reimbursing nine Transitional Care Management, Chronic Care Management, and Principal Care Management codes (99495, 99496, 99424, 99425, 99426, 99427, 99490, 99439, G0506) starting January 1, 2025. Four related codes (99437, 99487, 99489, 99491) will remain non-reimbursable.
Action Required
By December 31, 2024: Billing team must update BCBSRI contracts in billing system to add newly covered codes 99495, 99496, 99424, 99425, 99426, 99427, 99490, 99439, and G0506 as separately reimbursable under office visit category. Verify codes 99437, 99487, 99489, and 99491 remain marked as non-reimbursable. Update encounter forms to reflect these changes for primary care providers.
