Summary
Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) added new COVID-19 testing codes effective October 6, 2020, with three new covered testing codes (87636, 87637, 87811) that are copay-exempt and allowed for podiatrists, plus two non-covered codes. One old code (87450) was discontinued with alternate codes recommended.
Action Required
Immediately: Update billing system to use new COVID-19 testing codes 87636, 87637, and 87811 for dates of service on/after October 6, 2020. Replace discontinued code 87450 with appropriate alternatives (87301-87451 or 87802-87899). Note that codes 86413, 99072, 0240U, and 0241U are non-covered by IHCP. Resubmit any previously denied claims that may have been affected by these code updates.
