Summary
Effective immediately, providers billing for Peer Recovery Support Services (HCPCS code H2015) through SoonerCare (Oklahoma Medicaid) must have a current contract with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). SoonerCare enrollment and ODMHSAS certification alone do not satisfy this requirement. Providers billing H2015 without the required ODMHSAS contract risk claim recoupment, audit findings, and compliance actions.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must verify that all providers billing HCPCS code H2015 (Peer Recovery Support Specialist and Family Peer Recovery Support Specialist services) have a current, active contract with ODMHSAS—NOT just SoonerCare enrollment and ODMHSAS certification. ACTION STEPS: (1) Contact ODMHSAS directly or visit the Provider Certification webpage to confirm contract status for each provider; (2) Implement a pre-billing verification process in the billing system to flag H2015 claims from providers without confirmed ODMHSAS contracts; (3) Halt submission of H2015 claims from any provider unable to verify current ODMHSAS contract status; (4) Document contract verification in provider files. CONSEQUENCES: Claims submitted without the required ODMHSAS contract will be subject to recoupment, audit findings, and other compliance actions by OHCA.
