Summary
Effective October 1, 2026, Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) now covers Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs) when provided in mobile clinics and billed with Place of Service (POS) 15. Six FDA-approved LARC products are covered under the clinic benefit when specific operational and physician direction requirements are met. Billing teams must update systems to recognize POS 15 for LARC services and ensure mobile clinic eligibility requirements are documented.
Action Required
By September 30, 2026: Billing team must update billing system to accept Place of Service (POS) 15 for LARC HCPCS codes J7296, J7297, J7298, J7300, J7301, and J7307 when billed through KMAP. Verify that mobile clinic meets all state licensing and operational requirements (mobile unit owned/leased by clinic, state-recognized/licensed, services rendered within mobile unit, physician direction per 42 CFR 440.90). Coordinate with providers and clinic operations to document mobile clinic eligibility. Monitor KanCare MCO system implementation status on the KMAP Bulletins page, as MCO implementation dates may vary from the state policy effective date. Failure to bill with correct POS code may result in claim denials for LARC services provided in mobile clinics.
