Summary
New Mexico Medicaid has extended the provider enrollment deadline from July 1, 2026 to October 1, 2026. All attending, referring, ordering, and prescribing providers and pharmacists must enroll with the state by this date or have claims denied for services rendered on or after October 1, 2026. Providers must include NPI, TIN, and Payer ID 87748 (87726 for electronic visit verification) on claims.
Action Required
By October 1, 2026: All providers, pharmacists, and prescribers must complete enrollment with New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) at yes.nm.gov to avoid claim denials. Billing team must verify that all rendering providers in the practice are enrolled and that claims include correct identifiers: NPI, TIN, and Payer ID 87748 (87726 for electronic visit verification). Confirm enrollment status for all providers, ordering providers, referring providers, and prescribing providers across individual practices, group practices, hospital systems, behavioral health agencies, and any IHS programs. Starting October 1, 2026, MCOs will deny any claims where the rendering provider is not enrolled with Medicaid. Contact HCA Provider Enrollment at 800-299-7304 or nm.providers@hca.nm.gov for enrollment questions. Allow ample processing time before the deadline to prevent claim delays.
