Summary
Maryland Medicaid is implementing a 4% statutory rate increase effective July 1, 2023, for Home and Community-Based Options Waiver and Increased Community Services providers, followed by an additional 8% rate increase effective January 1, 2024. By June 30, 2023: Billing team must update all fee schedules in the billing system to reflect the July 1, 2023 rates for the 13 affected HCPCS codes (W0199, W5524, W5525, W0212, W0208, S5102, W0226, W0227, W0228, W0229, W0221, W1723, W1724). By December 31, 2023: Obtain and prepare the updated fee schedule with the 8% additional rate increase effective January 1, 2024, and have billing system updated before that date. Verify all claims submitted on or after July 1, 2023 use the correct rates. Note: The July rates show no net change due to expiration of temporary funding, but January 1, 2024 will show an 8% increase. Failure to update rates will result in incorrect claim submissions and potential overpayments or underpayments.
