Summary
Effective January 1, 2024, Maryland Medical Assistance Program increases reimbursement rates by 8% for Home and Community-Based Options Waiver (HCBOW) and Increased Community Services (ICS) providers. Billing teams must update fee schedules in their systems for all affected service codes and may begin billing new rates for services provided on or after the effective date.
Action Required
By December 31, 2023: Billing team must update all fee schedules in billing software for HCBOW and ICS services to reflect the 8% rate increase. Replace previous rates with new rates listed in the policy for all 14 affected procedure codes (W0199, W5503, W5524, W5525, W0212, W0208, S5102, W0226, W0227, W0228, W0229, W0221, W1723, W1724). Beginning January 1, 2024, bill only the new rates for services rendered on or after this date. Verify rates are correctly updated in all billing modules, encounter forms, and claim submission systems. Do not bill old rates after January 1, 2024, as claims will be denied or require adjustment.
