01Before October 1, 2024 (retroactive—implement immediately): Billing team must update billing system to recognize place of service (POS) codes 10 and 12 as billable modifiers for CPT codes 76801, 76802, 76805, 76810, 76811, 76812, 76813, 76814, 76815, 76816, 76817, 76818, 76819, 76820, 76821, 76825, 76826, 76827, 76828, and 59025.
02Update encounter forms and templates to allow providers to select 'remote' delivery option and capture patient location (home or outside office).
03Train billing staff to ensure claims for obstetric ultrasounds and fetal nonstress tests performed remotely are submitted with appropriate POS codes (10 for patient's home via telehealth, 12 for other non-facility locations).
04Verify provider enrollment status is active in Maryland Medical Assistance Program on service date.
05Ensure compliance with HIPAA security requirements for remote data transmission.
06Claims submitted without proper POS codes or from non-enrolled providers will be denied.
