Summary
Pennsylvania Medicaid now covers teledentistry services effective May 2, 2022, allowing specific dental procedures to be billed with Place of Service 02. New dental counseling codes D1310 and D1330 have been added to the fee schedule and must be billed together with a minimum 12-minute combined duration.
Action Required
Immediately: Update billing system to use Place of Service (POS) 02 for all teledentistry services instead of modifier GT. Stop billing procedure code D9995 (end-dated May 1, 2022). For FQHCs and RHCs, bill T1015 with U9 modifier and POS 02 for teledentistry encounters. When billing new codes D1310 and D1330, ensure they are billed together with minimum 12-minute combined duration and appropriate place of service code. Document teledentistry technology used and obtain patient consent before services.
