Summary
ForwardHealth updated CPT and HCPCS procedure codes for 2019, including new codes for behavioral treatment, durable medical equipment, molecular pathology, and advanced imaging services. Many new codes require prior authorization and some existing codes were end-dated and replaced.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update system with new 2019 CPT/HCPCS codes effective January 1, 2019. Stop using end-dated codes V5170, V5180, V5210, V5220 for hearing aids and replace with new codes V5171, V5181, V5211, V5221. Configure prior authorization requirements for new DME codes L8698, V5171, V5181, V5211, V5221 and new imaging codes 76391, 77046, 77047, 77048, 77049. Update behavioral treatment prior authorization requests to use 2019 CPT codes only. Amend any existing prior authorizations for hearing aid codes to reflect new procedure codes.
