Summary
New Jersey PAAD (Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled) program added three pharmaceutical manufacturers to its Drug Rebate Program: Contract Pharmacal Corp. (effective 04/21/96), Advanced Remedies, Inc. (effective 01/27/96), and Purdue Pharma L.P. (effective 04/15/96). Providers must recognize these manufacturers' labeler codes when processing PAAD claims, as PAAD and Medicaid drug rebate programs have different coverage criteria despite both being state programs.
Action Required
By May 1996: Pharmacy billing team must update PAAD drug rebate program references to recognize Labeler Codes 10267 (Contract Pharmacal Corp.), 57685 (Advanced Remedies, Inc.), and 59011 (Purdue Pharma L.P.) when processing pharmaceutical claims. Ensure claim adjudication systems correctly route PAAD-covered drugs from these manufacturers through the PAAD rebate program (not Medicaid rebate program). File this newsletter numerically behind the Newsletter Tab (BLUE TAB MARKED '5') for future reference. Note: This policy is from May 1996 and may be superseded by more recent PAAD guidance; verify current manufacturer participation lists before implementation.
