Summary
Four new pharmaceutical manufacturers have been added to the New Jersey PAAD (Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled) Drug Rebate Program. Billing teams must update their pharmacy systems to recognize these new manufacturer labeler codes (59572, 60814, 62939, 63653) for proper claim processing and drug coverage verification under PAAD.
Action Required
By June 30, 1998: Pharmacy billing staff and system administrators must update PAAD drug rebate program files to include the four new manufacturer labeler codes: 59572 (Celgene Corporation), 60814 (Rexall Sundown Inc.), 62939 (Brightstone Pharma Inc.), and 63653 (Bristol-Myers/Sanofi Pharmaceuticals). Update pharmacy management software and claim submission systems to recognize these codes for proper PAAD coverage determination. Note that PAAD drug coverage may differ from Medicaid coverage for the same manufacturers. Verify with the Chief of Pharmaceutical Services at (609) 588-2724 or Unisys Pharmacy Consultant at (609) 588-6039 if claim denials occur related to these new codes.
