Summary
Effective May 1, 2026, BCBS Rhode Island will no longer reimburse for three specific CPT Category III codes (0890T, 0891T, and 0892T) for professional services only. These codes will be added to their non-reimbursable health service codes policy.
Action Required
Before May 1, 2026: Billing team must update billing software to flag CPT codes 0890T, 0891T, and 0892T as non-reimbursable for BCBS Rhode Island professional claims. Update fee schedules to remove these codes and notify providers to stop using these codes for BCBS RI patients. Claims submitted with these codes will be denied.
