Summary
Humana Medicare Advantage will NOT cover irreversible electroporation (IRE) for any indication, considering it not medically reasonable and necessary. New CPT codes 47384 and 55877 for liver and prostate IRE procedures become effective January 1, 2026, but will be denied.
Action Required
Before February 2, 2026: Billing team must update system to deny/flag CPT codes 47384, 55877, 0600T, and 0601T for Humana Medicare Advantage plans as non-covered services. Update encounter forms to alert providers that IRE procedures are not covered. Claims submitted will be denied as not medically necessary.
