Summary
Maryland Medicaid increases reimbursement rates for home health services by 2.7% effective January 1, 2025. All six service categories (Skilled Nursing, Home Health Aide, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, and DME/DMS) have updated county-specific fee schedules. Billing teams must implement new rates in their systems immediately to avoid underbilling.
Action Required
By December 31, 2024: Billing team must update all billing software systems with the new FY 2025 home health rates from the attached fee schedule. Enter county-specific rates for procedure codes 0551 (Skilled Nursing), 0571 (Home Health Aide), 0421 (Physical Therapy), 0431 (Occupational Therapy), 0441 (Speech Pathology), and 0273 (DME/DMS). Verify that rates are applied based on the home health agency's home office location county. For out-of-state providers, configure system to apply the lower of: (1) home state Medicaid rate if provider participates in home state program, or (2) nearest Maryland county rate. Test billing functionality to ensure new rates apply to all claims dated January 1, 2025 and forward. Notify all clinical and administrative staff that rate increases are effective. Failure to update rates will result in systematic underbilling and revenue loss on all Maryland Medicaid home health claims.
