Summary
Washington State Medicaid (Apple Health) is discontinuing coverage of CDT code D9630 (drugs or medicaments dispensed in the office for home use) effective March 14, 2026. These medications will now be covered through the patient's pharmacy benefit instead of as a dental service.
Action Required
By March 14, 2026: Billing team must stop billing CDT code D9630 for Washington State Medicaid patients. Update billing system to block this code for Apple Health claims. Inform providers that drugs/medicaments for home use must now be prescribed through pharmacy benefit instead of billed as dental service.
