BCBSRI will reimburse collaborative care and behavioral health integration services in primary care settings, but providers must first submit and get approval for a detailed program description demonstrating they meet CMS requirements. Effective January 1, 2019, reimbursement extends to Commercial members for general behavioral health integration services.

Primary care providers must submit a detailed program description to Behavioralhealth@bcbsri.org demonstrating compliance with CMS Collaborative Care Model requirements. After BCBSRI approval, wait 60 days before submitting claims for collaborative care and behavioral health integration codes. No retroactive payments will be made for services rendered before approval.
