Summary
BCBS Rhode Island is partnering with WINFertility to manage fertility service authorizations for fully insured Commercial members starting October 1, 2020. Providers must now obtain fertility-related authorizations through WINFertility instead of directly through BCBSRI, while self-insured clients continue using BCBSRI.
Action Required
Before October 1, 2020: Fertility providers must establish accounts and obtain training with WINFertility portal for authorization requests. Billing team must verify member funding type (fully vs self-insured) through BCBSRI provider portal before submitting authorization requests.
