Summary
BCBSRI has extended the Temporary Cost Share Waiver for Treatment of Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 until further notice, effective April 1, 2021. This waiver eliminates patient cost-sharing (copays, deductibles, coinsurance) for confirmed COVID-19 treatment for in-network providers on commercial products and both in-network and out-of-network providers for Medicare Advantage plans.

Immediately: Billing team must review the updated policy document linked in the notice to understand specific changes. Update billing system to waive cost-sharing for confirmed COVID-19 treatment claims for BCBSRI commercial (in-network only) and Medicare Advantage plans (in-network and out-of-network).
