Summary
Effective January 1, 2022, BCBS Rhode Island moved behavioral health utilization management from Beacon to in-house operations. Healthcare facilities must now enter behavioral health admission and discharge notifications through BCBSRI's MHK system instead of Beacon.
Action Required
Before January 1, 2022: All staff currently using Beacon for behavioral health notifications must obtain access to bcbsri.com and MHK system by contacting ProviderRelations@bcbsri.org. Billing and utilization management staff must complete mandatory training sessions beginning in early December. Switch all behavioral health admission and discharge notifications from Beacon to MHK system.
