Summary
Effective January 1, 2022, pharmacy mail order vendors changed for commercial plans only: non-specialty prescriptions moved from Alliance to Express Scripts, and specialty prescriptions moved from Alliance to Accredo. Most existing prescriptions were automatically transferred, but providers must send new prescriptions to the new vendors.
Action Required
Immediately: Update EMR systems to e-prescribe maintenance medications to Express Scripts Home Delivery instead of Alliance for commercial plan patients. Update specialty prescription routing to Accredo instead of Alliance. For controlled substances, REMS medications, expired prescriptions, or prescriptions with no refills, send new prescriptions to the appropriate new vendor.
