Summary
BCBS Rhode Island is implementing a new Place of Service (POS) code 10 for telemedicine services effective April 1, 2022, while modifying the existing POS code 02 description. Providers must use the correct POS codes (10 or 02) when billing for telemedicine services including both audio-visual and telephone-only visits.
Action Required
By April 1, 2022: Billing team must update billing software and encounter forms to use new POS code 10 and revised POS code 02 for all telemedicine services (both audio-visual and telephone-only) for BCBSRI members.
