Summary
BCBSRI has created a new Place of Service (POS) code 10 for telemedicine services and revised the description of existing POS code 02. Billing teams must use the correct POS codes (10 or 02) for all telemedicine services, whether audio/visual or telephone-only, when submitting claims.

Immediately: Billing team must update billing software and encounter forms to use correct POS codes for telemedicine services - use POS code 10 and POS code 02 as specified in the full policy for both audio/visual and telephone-only telemedicine visits. Review the complete policy to understand the differences between POS 10 and POS 02. All telemedicine claims submitted after April 1, 2022 must include accurate POS codes for proper adjudication.
