Summary
Effective March 14, 2026, Anthem Blue Cross 835 Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) files will now display both the submitted procedure code and the adjudicated (allowable) procedure code for inclusive (non-separately payable) service lines. This change helps billing teams reconcile claims by identifying which allowable service an inclusive line is bundled into, improving claims reconciliation accuracy.
Action Required
By March 14, 2026: Billing team must update ERA reconciliation procedures and claims review workflows to account for dual procedure code display in Loop 2110 (both SVC06 for submitted codes and SVC01 for adjudicated codes). Train staff on interpreting the new ERA format to identify bundled/inclusive services and their associated allowable procedures. Update any automated ERA processing or reconciliation scripts to handle the additional service line detail. Ensure billing staff understand that the adjudicated procedure code (SVC01) reflects the allowable service for matching purposes. Verify your practice is enrolled in ERA delivery via Availity Essentials (https://Availity.com); if not enrolled, complete enrollment before the effective date to receive the updated ERA format. No changes to billing submission or coding are required.
