Summary
BCBS Rhode Island has updated their HEDIS quality measure guidelines for Osteoporosis Management in Women who Had a Fracture (OMW). Women aged 67-85 who suffered fractures between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022 must receive BMD testing or osteoporosis medication within 6 months of fracture to meet quality metrics.

Immediately: Billing team should coordinate with providers to ensure women aged 67-85 with fractures receive BMD testing or osteoporosis prescriptions within 6 months post-fracture. Set up tracking reminders for fracture patients to ensure HEDIS quality measure compliance. Monitor for monthly BCBSRI fax notifications about new fractures in your patient panel.
