Summary
BCBSRI implemented new Place of Service (POS) code 10 for telemedicine services (both audio/visual and telephone only) effective April 1, 2022, and revised the description of existing POS code 02. Providers must accurately submit the correct POS codes (10 or 02) for all telemedicine services rendered to BCBSRI members.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update billing software and encounter forms to use correct Place of Service codes for telemedicine - use POS code 10 for new telemedicine services and updated POS code 02 per revised guidelines.
