Effective January 1, 2023, Blue RI for Duals (D-SNP) members will receive new ID cards that no longer display copays or coinsurance amounts. Members now have 20% coinsurance on services like PCP visits (excluding annual physicals), dental, and X-rays, which must be billed to Medicaid and cannot be collected from patients if the provider is not Medicaid-approved.

Immediately: Billing team must update procedures for Blue RI Duals members - do not rely on ID cards for copay amounts, bill all D-SNP coinsurance to Medicaid after primary claim processing, and ensure staff understands that members cannot be billed for coinsurance if practice is not an approved Medicaid provider.
