Summary

Effective January 1, 2023, BlueRI for Duals (D-SNP) members received new ID cards that no longer display copays/coinsurance amounts, and now have 20% coinsurance for services like PCP visits (excluding annual physicals), dental-related medical services, X-rays, Part B medications, and DME supplies. All D-SNP copays and coinsurance should be billed to Medicaid and covered in full - providers cannot bill members directly if they're not approved Medicaid providers.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Billing team must update patient accounts for BlueRI for Duals members to reflect 20% coinsurance structure for PCP visits (excluding annual physicals), dental-related medical services, X-rays, Part B medications, and DME supplies. Configure billing system to automatically send D-SNP coinsurance claims to Medicaid after primary BlueRI processing. Train front desk staff that new ID cards no longer show copay amounts. If practice is not an approved Medicaid provider, ensure billing staff never bill D-SNP members directly for copays/coinsurance as this is prohibited.
