Summary
For NEHP members with Rhode Island PCPs, medical drug authorization inquiries should now be directed to the member's home plan for benefit confirmation. BCBSRI has corrected previous issues where claims were incorrectly denying for no authorization, but final approval still depends on the home plan's benefits.

Immediately: Billing team must update workflow for NEHP members with Rhode Island PCPs. Direct all medical drug authorization inquiries to the member's home plan instead of BCBSRI. Update staff training to ensure benefit verification is done with the correct plan. Note that while BCBSRI will no longer deny for missing authorization, final coverage still depends on home plan benefits.
