BCBSRI expanded their Supervisory Protocol Policy to include Physician Assistants working towards behavioral health specialization. Effective July 1, 2024, these PAs can render services under supervision of either a PA-BH or licensed psychiatrist in behavioral health settings.

For PAs working towards behavioral health specialization, verify they are supervised by either a PA-BH or licensed psychiatrist. Contact Behavioralhealth@bcbsri.org to submit Supervisory Protocol documentation if applicable. Update provider credentialing files to reflect new supervision options.
