BCBSRI removed the requirement for PCPs to submit protocols for approval for behavioral health integration services and expanded the use of behavioral health integration and collaborative care billing codes to all physicians, not just PCPs.
Action Required
Immediately: Notify all physicians that behavioral health integration and collaborative care codes can now be billed without prior protocol approval. Update billing system to remove any prior authorization requirements for these codes. Expand billing privileges for these codes from PCPs only to all physicians in the practice.
